Early Years Key Worker
One familiar person. A whole team behind them.
Birth to your child's first year of Kinder
Your Early Years Key Worker is an Early Childhood Interventionist who works regularly with you and your child. Rather than having your child attend multiple appointments with different professionals each week, your Key Worker becomes your family's main point of contact. They get to know your child, your family and what matters in everyday life.
Your support includes:

A regular weekly session with your Early Years Key Worker

Practical developmental support built into play, routines and everyday life

One consistent person for your child and family to build a relationship with

Collaboration with Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and other professionals when their expertise is needed

Strategies from the wider therapy team brought into your child's regular sessions

Support and collaboration with preschool and early learning settings
-
Preparation for starting school

A trusted person to talk to about developmental concerns, changes or new challenges
Why we work this way
Young children don't necessarily need more appointments to make more progress. Our goal is to bring the right expertise together and deliver it through a consistent relationship, at a pace your child and family can manage. The aim is meaningful, measurable progress without making family life feel like a full-time therapy program.
The Kinder Transition Year
Growing the team around your child
Kinder is an important transition - not just into school, but into a different way of providing support.
Throughout this year, your Early Years Key Worker will gradually help your family transition towards our School Years Key Worker model.
As your child's world becomes bigger, they may begin working more directly with the individual therapists they need. Their support team may now include teachers, school staff, therapists and other important people in their life. Your School Years Key Worker will become involved during this transition and gradually take on a greater role with your family. There isn't a sudden handover. We transition alongside you.
By the end of the year, the focus of Key Worker support has begun to shift from primarily delivering intervention with your child to helping you coordinate, understand and lead the growing team around them.
School Age Key Worker
Someone to help you hold all the pieces
Once your child starts school, there can suddenly be a lot of people involved. Teachers. Therapists. Support workers. Specialists. NDIS supports. Appointments. Recommendations. Plans.
And parents are often the people expected to somehow connect all of it.
Your School Years Key Worker is there to help. You'll have a minimum monthly session with your Key Worker, with support centred around you and what your family needs.
Your Key Worker can:

Help you understand recommendations and decide what matters most right now

Build your confidence and capacity to lead your child's support

Advocate alongside your family with therapists, school and other formal supports

Keep communication flowing between the important people in your child's team

Help ensure strategies and therapy plans work together rather than competing with each other

Help you prioritise supports and make thoughtful use of available funding
-
Notice when parts of the team aren't working together and help bring them back into alignment

Provide a consistent relationship where difficult conversations can happen safely

Support you to make decisions when everything feels like too much
Holding the pieces
Then handing them back. There will be times when navigating your child's supports feels overwhelming. In those moments, your Key Worker can help hold the pieces organise what is happening, bring people together, identify the next step and reduce some of the load.But the goal isn't for your Key Worker to take over.Our School Years model is designed to continually build your knowledge, confidence and independence so that, when you're ready, those pieces come back to you.We're beside you when you need us, while always working towards you feeling confident to lead the way.
